25 Years of D'Angelo's Voodoo

The remarkable Voodoo from D'Angelo was released this 25 years ago this week.

On the 25th of January 00, D’Angelo released his incredible second album on Vinyl, Voodoo, featuring Untitled, Devil’s Pie, Spanish Joint & One Mo’Gin.

D’Angelo collaborated with a who’s who of musicians ( including J Dilla, ?uestlove, Pino Palladino, Raphael Saadiq, Spanky Alford, James Poyser, Roy Hargrove & Mike Campbell from The Heartbreakers ) to subvert standard song & beat structure and create a unique album using old school techniques and analog equipment ( with help from engineer Russell Elevado )

We would have to wait 14 years for a follow up, the sensational Black Messiah, but it nearly didn’t matter. Voodoo left us with enough music to pore over and obsess about for decades.
