Mahalia Jackson Bless This House

No one other than Mahalia Jackson (1911/1972) better personifies the gospel genre, even though the New Orleans singer also rubbed into jazz. She has been recording since 1931, and when the time has just gone from 78 rounds two tracks to the album microfurrow, she began a contract with Columbia, where she was the first gospel artist recruited, with a debut album dedicated to this religious repertoire, while leading the battle of civil rights with Martin Luther King.
