Various From Hillbilly To Honky Tonk (NAD)

NATIONAL ALBUM DAY RELEASE

Celebrating National Album Day 2026, Country Icons: From Hillbilly To Honky Tonk offers an essential overview documenting the magnificent evolution of country music from rural mountain roots to a global popular culture phenomenon.  Across fourteen landmark recordings, this collection captures the pivotal era where traditional folk tales, Appalachian ballads, and southern blues collided with electric instrumentation and radio broadcasting.  Originating in the late 1920s, the genre emerged as a voice for working-class life, fusing British Isles folk traditions, African American blues phrasing, and Christian gospel harmonies. As America modernized, acoustic traditions expanded into cinematic Western swing, high-speed bluegrass, and the electrified, neonlit sound of post-war honky-tonk.  Featuring pioneering trailblazers like Jimmie Rodgers, The Carter Family, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Kitty Wells, and Patsy Cline, these fourteen songs represent the foundational bedrock and enduring storytelling DNA that continues to define modern popular music across the globe.
